Policies
Here is some information that you will need to know to be successful in 6th grade math this year.
Organization
You need to bring the following materials to class everyday:
o Pencil case
o Expandable file folder
o Math notebook
o Agenda
o SSR book
All homework and class objectives will be written in your agenda during class each day, so both your parents and you will be informed of what is being taught and assigned each night.
Homework
Homework will be assigned often in math class. Each homework assignment should take less than 30 minutes to complete. If you are taking longer than 30 minutes to finish homework assignments, please talk to your teacher to figure out a solution.
Homework is usually due the day after it is assigned, and it will be checked in daily by your teacher at the beginning of each class. Students will receive a point each time they complete a homework assignment. After receiving 20 points, students will earn a homework pass that they can use on daily homework assignments.
If a student does not complete the homework, they will not receive any points for the day. They will also be expected to complete the assignment before or after school with a math teacher. For math, all students that do not complete their homework will come on Thursdays before or after school.
Keep in mind that homework is assigned to practice the concepts taught in class, and it is necessary to complete the assignments in order to ensure success in class.
Absences
Students who are absent are responsible for completing any missed work. Copies of assignments will be provided and are also available on the Google calendar. Students should turn in missed work as soon as possible.
Tutoring
If a student is struggling with a particular assignment, math tutoring is available before or after school every Thursday.
Let’s have a fun, productive, and successful school year in sixth grade math!
